Where has the violence gone in video games? All over the place it's always the same story, you can kill shit as long as you're polite and they leave no corpse.

It pisses me off, I wanna play games about school mass murders and dismember some random chick stupid enough to get in my van.
It's part of life, now though all I seem to hear in games is "Oh gosh I do believe I'm going to have to kill you, sorry about that...".
For fucks sake enough bullshit about 'oh no my ten year old is playing violent games and he's learning swear words from them', if you wanna be a dumb cunt and buy a minor an R-18+ game I don't care but when your being a dumb cunt results in all my games being censored, splooged on or turned into hello kitty's island adventure it just means I'm going to have to get my fix for violence in the real world... and I'm starting with you.

When their kids are learning bad things from games it's the parents fault. The ratings are there for a reason.

There are still some fairly violent games out there. Been doing a run through of Conan for the 360 and I get to cut people to shreds, blood spattering everywhere. Borderlands has some great graphic images like when you electrocute a man and his skull explodes with the eyeball popping out. And if ye pay attention Left 4 Dead 2 is quite violent, with zombies running after you trailing their intestines behind them after you gut shoot them. And in Red Dead Redemption the back of a man's skull will burst open if you shoot them in the head.

But yeah, developers are making even the majority of M (R I guess where you are?) rated games without intense gore to make it more acceptable for younger viewers. Which really shouldn't be happening. There is a rating system in place for a reason, and developers shouldn't be having to think of a 13 year old when making a game for players 17/18+. We have bad parenting to blame for this.

You must live outside Australia, and it's ridiculous video game censorship... I think I'll have to download all my games from now on.

Part of the video game trade here is compulsory censorship of pretty much everything.
Here in Left 4 Dead 2 there are no zombie bodies, once you kill them they disappear. Similar with drugs, there's no drug use allowed. Fallout 3 was denied retail status in Aus because it showed the player injecting himself with morphine, the use of the names of drugs is also not allowed so morphine was renamed Med-X... gay huh?

There's also no R-18+ game rating here although the government is pushing to introduce one... not that it'll matter since everything's going to be 'child proofed' anyway.

There's also the matter of the Compulsory Internet Censorship the government is still pushing to 'protect the children' by slowing down our internet and NOT stoping child pornography... but it will stop almost every form of online computer gaming.
